Charlotte Loomis is helping improve hearing conservation for workers:
We invented state-of-the-art hearing protection that listens along with you. Whenever it hears something it doesn’t like — unsafe noise levels — it alerts safety managers to the situation so they can take action, moving workers away from the noise before it can cause hearing damage.
Hector Chinolla is looking out for first responders who put their lives on the line:
During a fire, temperatures can reach 400–500 F. Add in toxic fumes, and you have one of the most inhospitable environments in the world. We developed a thermal layer that rapidly vents heat after leaving a super-heated environment and a mask capable of blocking 99.9 percent of nanoparticles so firefighters can stay safe for the seconds they need to save someone’s life.
